I noticed earlier today that the four main personality world view types can be represented in some of the Lorax characters!
I thought this was a pretty cool thing for symbolism so I decided to make this chart. Later I'll type up a description of why I chose each character for that particular trait, but it should be pretty easy to figure out. :3
And feel free to share your thoughts on these characters and how they exhibit these traits.
EDIT (extended description of my thoughts on this)
Oncie the Optimist-
This was pretty obvious. He even directly SAYS he has a "completely irrational sense of OPTIMISM". And you can easily tell that he seems to have cheerful, "Mr BLue Skies" attitude towards life.
AND DATS WHY I WUB HIM! (sorry had to have a fangirl moment xD)
Lorax the Realist-
I believe him to be the realist, because although he is considered grumpy, he is reasonably grumpy, and he makes up for by being positive and encouraging at just the right time. Like he didn't believe anyone would buy the Thneed, but then when Oncie seemed disappointed, the Lorax chimed in with "Well you gave it your best shot!". He seems to have a even balance of negativity and positivty, that's why he's the realist.
O'hare the pessimist-
Another pretty obvious one. He's by far the most negative person in the movie. He tries to find happiness through the wrongs things, like greed and dishonesty, and of course never finds true happiness from that.
Ted the Idealist-
In a description of the movie I read online, Ted is described as the Idealist. This seems true in the movie, when he's negative about his current life, yet he has enough positivity to know how to make things better, and he's searching for the IDEAS on how to do this.
